The territorial conference, organized by the DDT under the aegis of Thierry Queffélec, prefect of Haut-Rhin, met on November 6, 2024. The objective was to share the results of a year of work on the definition of zones to accelerate the production of renewable energies, before transmitting the summary to the regional energy committee.
The key players responded: political decision-makers, community technicians, the Ballon des Vosges Natural Park, representatives of agriculture, the environment and heritage and all energy distributors.
The level of community mobilization and the identified implementation potential highlight a real dynamic and a global desire to support the energy transition.
Thus in the Haut-Rhin department:
- 312 municipalities, or 85% of the municipalities of Haut-Rhin, have identified preferential zones through deliberations in municipal council preceded by citizen consultation, a key vector for the acceptability of a project;
- 7 types of renewable energy are offered: photovoltaic, solar thermal, geothermal, methanization, wood energy, hydroelectricity and wind;
- for a cumulative surface area of 206,000 ha taking into account agricultural, environmental and heritage issues and with a view to controlling land use.
To continue this dynamic, a departmental renewable energy support and monitoring committee will be set up to support the development of structuring projects from 2025.
Thierry Queffélec, prefect of Haut-Rhin, stressed that the energy transition towards carbon neutrality in 2050 requires massive development of renewable energies to reduce CO2 emissions, while respecting energy sobriety. He insisted on the importance of reducing energy dependence for social peace and welcomed the commitment of mayors and EPCIs to promote the local acceptability of projects.
