“The result is sumptuous, I don’t know how we’re going to be up to it next year”describes one of those responsible for the Château d’Arpaillargues with a smile.
Like him, Fabrice Verdier, president of the Community of Communes of Pays d'Uzès, Xavier Perretpresident of the Gard Chamber of Trades, as well as several other people invited that day, were wide-eyed at the creations of the 22 floristswho came to decorate the building for the end of year celebrations.
Florists in Gard: “This profession is far from stopping at funeral bouquets”
A tailor-made decoration, the result of a partnership between the castle, the Gard Union Chamber of Florists et the National Confederation of Crafts, Trades and Services (Cnams).
“The deal was as follows: the castle welcomed us for 48 hours, time for us to carry out various workshops and training (with the exceptional presence of Benoît Saint-Amand, best worker in France), within it. At the end, several creations had to remain on site to decorate the premises. We try to organize these meetings four times a year“, explain Frédéric Libourelresponsible for union.
“These meetings and training are essential for our profession. We have a blast working and we can bring bouquets home, to our stores”testifies Katia, florist in Barjacin the Gard. “It’s also an opportunity to talk about the future of the profession, to talk about our know-how. This profession is far from stopping at funeral bouquets. We are creators in our own right”adds one of his colleagues, coming from Toulouse, supported by Xavier Perret.
From now on, large bouquets and gold and blue wreaths adorn the entrance to the castle as well as several rooms.“No doubt, customers will love it”slips one of the castle employees…
