PARIS (Reuters) – The consumer price index in France increased by 1.3% year-on-year in November, marking a slight increase, according to the first estimate from INSEE published on Friday.
Economists polled by Reuters expected inflation to be 1.5% over one year, after +1.2% in October.
This change in inflation results from a slowdown in food prices offset by an acceleration in the prices of services and a less marked drop in energy prices, explains INSEE.
Over one month, consumer prices fell by 0.1% in November after +0.3% in October and while analysts were expecting an increase of 0.1%.
The consumer price index harmonized according to European HICP standards, which allows comparisons with other countries in the euro zone, was up 1.7% year-on-year at the end of November, in line with expectations, after 1.6% in October.
Over one month, the HICP index fell by 0.1% after +0.3% the previous month and stability expected by the consensus.
