Fleurance hosts a round table on the theme “Japan-France, crossed perspectives”

Today, at 6:30 p.m., in the Laurentie room, rue Gambetta, a round table will take place (free entry) on the theme “Japan-, crossed perspectives”, on the occasion of “En Lomagne à l'heure of Japan”, events organized by Lectoure à Voix Haute. Will participate: Bruno Lacoste, honorary consul of Japan in ; Taro Ochiai, manga translator, specialist in Japanese animated cinema; Myriam Acerbis, physiotherapist who lived for more than twenty years in Tokyo; and many travelers like Christiane Fitzpatrick, ceramist, Caroline Sers, writer…

Different major social topics will be addressed, illustrated with short readings by Japanese or French authors. The lives of women will be introduced with a text by Amélie Nothomb. The question of the relationship to work will be raised based on “The Factory”, by Oyamada. Regarding nature, this is an extract from the book “Pillow of Herbs”, by Soseki, which will illustrate this vast subject. And again the presence of Japan in the world, with an extract from “Those who had never seen the sea”, by the American Julie Otsuka, without obscuring the question of pacifism and rearmament. And finally, art and culture, with, as an introduction, an extract on music, from “La Vie immobile”, by Ikezawa. A pot will then allow us to exchange.

Tomorrow, an introductory sequence to the game of go will take place at the La Méridienne bookstore, at 3 p.m., hosted by Laurent Ezequel (free).
