The mobilization of farmers resumes in the Somme. The FDSEA and the Young Farmers call on their members to light “fires of anger“this Thursday evening in around ten municipalities in the department, notably in Essertaux, Albert, Bayonvillers, Friville-Escarbotin, Hornoy-le-Bourg, Oisemont, Villers-Bocage and in Ponthieu-Marquenterre “to show the dismay and incomprehension of farmers in the face of an above-ground administration“. They denounce the “unpaid CAP files, blocked subsidies, abusive and absurd controls and curbs on entrepreneurial spirit“.
The FDSEA and the Young Farmers are demanding “economic and cash flow measures to support farmers, drastic administrative simplification through measures within the government's reach“, a law for “put the taste for entrepreneurship back at the heart of agricultural policies and the end of European and global inconsistencies, to restore ambition to European food sovereignty“.
Fire of dismay and fed up
In Essertaux, on the edge of the RD 1001, around fifteen farmers lit a fire made from pallets and bales of straw. “It’s the fire of anger but also that of fed up and dismay”blow some like Jean-Philippe Hermant, installed not far from there, in Lœuilly. “On a structure like mine before it was a couple who lived, today well, it's double active. We wonder if it's not a poisoned gift to our children. It's a profession of passion , but we are running out of steam.”
