Parking rules will very soon change Senlis. In this town in Oise where it is regularly difficult to park, several changes have been announced to the parking plan. paid parking on roads, particularly in the city center, from 1is January 2025.

The perimeters of the red zone (in the city center) and green zone (near the center) will notably be modified, thus creating new boundaries.

Downtown areas changed

In order to “maintain in the red rate only the shopping streets of the city center to encourage short-term parking for the benefit of businesses,” explained Patrick Gaudubois, second deputy mayor, in charge of general affairs and mobility, during the last municipal council.

Along the same lines, the green rate, “less expensive and allowing parking for up to four hours near shopping streets”, will be applied to certain streets currently in the red zone, which will therefore reduce parking rates. Like the Place de Lavarande or the Square des Études.

The objective of these modifications is to ease traffic and parking in the city center by preferentially accepting business customers and local residents, and by encouraging visitors and professionals to park instead around the city center.

Parking lots will become paying

On the other hand, currently free car parks near the heart of the royal city will become paying, like those in theold Saint-Pierre church and the cathedral car park.

On the other hand, several car parks will remain free on the outskirts of the center, such as that of Cerf or that of the court.

In these two colored zones, free parking will be extended from 15 to 30 minutes.

Creation of subscriptions for residents

In Senlis, where 17,000 people live, this reform also provides for the creation of a green zone subscription for residents. A monthly pass 40 eurosor annual to 400 eurosfor a vehicle. A novelty that makes one cringe.

On social networks, some locals find these prices too high. “Overpriced! », denounces a resident. “400 euros! Frankly shameful, half would already be more reasonable,” writes another.

“Charge 400 euros to local residents who pay property tax, This is akin to racketeering”denounces for her part the opposition municipal councilor, Véronique Pruvost-Bitar. “The real goal is not to encourage vehicle rotation and avoid buffer cars but to recover money.”

The decisions made by the municipality are inconsistent. If the municipality was really worried about traffic in the historic center, it would start by solving the problem of the circulation of heavy goods vehicles which have no business on very narrow cobbled streets weakened by several levels of cellars.

New parking meters in Senlis

An Internet user adds: “it’s just crazy to charge 400 euros per year not to be sure of having a place.” A fourth is more radical: “This is how to kill a city center.” However, according to the town hall, residents of the city center and traders revealed themselves “rather favorable” in the face of these provisions.

New parking meters will also be installed in the streets of Senlis, by the company Streeteo, a subsidiary of Indigo. She will be responsible for monitoring the correct payment of parking for motorists.
