A suspicious truck was spotted, Monday and Tuesday, in several towns in Vendée, notably in La Garnache, Aizenay and Saint-Paul-Mont-Penit. As indicated by our colleagues on the site Actu.frseveral residents of these towns were approached by men traveling in a white truck.
They offer fruits and vegetables to people who are willing to open their doors to them. But when it comes to providing precise information about the company for which they are canvassing, the information is vague, inspiring no confidence in the majority of potential customers.
A call for caution
Several people nevertheless agree to buy fruits and vegetables, but they all say they gave in to the pressure and some even say they were “intimidated” by the sellers when they refused to pay the large sums of money demanded.
Faced with these actions, the town hall of La Garnache launched an alert on social networks, advising citizens not to open to canvassers if in doubt and to call the town hall to verify that it is indeed a sale which has been authorized. It is also recommended to contact the telephone number indicated on the invoice and to ensure that you have a withdrawal period.
