After the white zones for mobile telephony, the Dordogne is now being singled out for its white zones in terms of public transport. Périgord is even one of the four least well-endowed metropolitan departments, according to the magazine UFC-Que Choisir.

Brantôme, its postcard landscapes, its greenery, its tranquility. The commune of Périgord Vert is also called the “Venice of Périgord” for the gentleness of its walks along the Dronne, its biodiversity, its bent bridge and its abbey.
Brantôme is located 25 km as the crow flies from Périgueux. It is known for many things, but certainly not for its accessibility. Here, the personal car is almost essential, the town of 4,000 inhabitants has no public transport.
“Everything is outside, the supermarkets and all that. It's quite complicated to go to Périgueux. We can't go shopping.”explains a gentleman.
You exit the roundabout, it's over! You have the campaign right after!
“There are no buses here. There never will be. If you want to get around, it's either the bike or the car, that's it”jokes this other Brantômais. Here, eight out of ten residents do not have access to public transport near their homes.
Like the Brantômais, 10 million French people are affected by this lack of transport. This is the observation ofa investigation led par UFC What Choose.
This report points out the disparities between the French in terms of accessibility to public transport, as an alternative to the private car which contributes to increasing greenhouse gas emissions. Building on this observation, the association is at the same time launching, with its local associations, a national awareness and mobilization campaign, called #LaMobilité.
17% of the metropolitan population, or more than 10 million people, according to the study, “has no access to public transportation within a 10-minute walk.” Indeed, “32% of municipalities have no public transport stops. This lack of bus stops or stations is particularly striking in small municipalities since 45% of municipalities with less than 1,000 inhabitants have no stops. public transport“.
This is therefore the case, as we have seen, of Brantôme, among others. In the consumer magazine's study, the Dordogne appears to be one of the most underserved departments. In red on the map are areas where households live more than 10 minutes from the first bus stop.
Five municipalities offer their population public transport. What about the others?

In these five cities, there is an overflow of cars in city centers. “The environmental issues are therebelieves Arnaud Lajugie. We want to relieve congestion in cities, who doesn't complain about the traffic in Périgueux?” he asks.
However, en y looking of plus close, THE urban areas as Périgueux, here in green (map below), benefit of a treatment of favor.
The president of Périmouv', Florian Chantegreil, who is also the mayor of the small town of Saint Paul-de-Serre, testifies to this. “Public transport mainly concerns urban areas. In rural areas, it is very different. We cannot set up a bus line every hour that will serve a rural area. The cost would be too great”, he admits.
However, the urban services are trying to find alternatives to compensate for the lack of transport in the most remote municipalities.. An approach which includes the establishment of park-and-ride facilities with carpooling lines and car-sharing vehicles.”Very soon, you will see nine-seater minibuses appear in all of these rural communities. promises Florian Chantegreil.
Remarkable initiatives which, for the moment, do not allow Périgourdins to benefit from the same services as their fellow citizens. Because these “white zones” in terms of public transport affect 62% of Périgourdins.
Face has of such disparities, according to What Choose, il East indispensable of find of news offers of transports financed par THE communities locales et l'Etat.
