The residents of the area around Bodélio, the new eco-district in Lorient (Morbihan), will have to be patient for a while longer. Although the first residents have settled on the first plot, fifteen more need to be built and developed before the work is completed. The newcomers will also have to accept life in noise and dust for a while.

The first phase is “about to be finished”says Michel Toulminet, deputy mayor of Lorient responsible for urban planning, housing and city policy. However, this will require the construction of 13 houses, which will not begin before the beginning of 2025.

Another ten years

The second phase consists of developing seven other plots on a similar model. “We want to have buildings of high architectural and sound quality”continues Michel Toulminet. After launching a call for expressions of interest, the city of Lorient has already made its choice regarding the developers and architects in charge of the mission – but nothing is public for the moment. Phase three will incorporate the last lots.

In accordance with the local housing programme, 50% of the housing should be single-bedroom apartments. Fabrice Loher, the mayor, gives an idea: the work will continue for another ten years.
