Communiqué :
Claudette Brunet Lechenault’s support for Rémy Rebeyrotte

The first round of the legislative elections allowed the expression of several sensitivities on the political spectrum.
Richard Béninger, LFI candidate, achieved a score of 19.14% of the votes.
Coming in third place, he withdrew his candidacy even though he could have stayed: his attitude is that of a responsible person.
This second round must mobilize all Republicans: the National Rally is not the solution to the problems we are going through.

His program is dangerous for social peace.
Although I disagree with Rémy Rebeyrotte on certain points, notably on his unqualified support for Emmanuel Macron’s policy, which has shifted to the right over the years, I support him against the RN candidate. He knows his constituency well, with its strengths and weaknesses. He has lived there for a long time. He is a Republican.
His RN opponent no, who is doing electoral tourism and whose election would be bad news for the local economy and would contribute to a catastrophe for France.
I appeal to all Republicans, but particularly to Left-wing voters who are tired of always voting “against” and do not want to go and vote on Sunday.
You are angry with Emmanuel Macron’s economic and social policies, fine. You want a more left-wing policy, fine.
But that does not justify you forgetting the essential: the Republic and its values of fraternity. And we must know how to listen to what people want and do not dare to tell us and … who said it at the ballot box on June 30.
The Left listens to the suburbs, the neighborhoods, the excluded, the minorities. It has not listened enough to rural areas and their inhabitants who feel abandoned, downgraded, even despised.
If she wants to convince, she should start listening and, with humility, reconnect with rural France, which does not recognize itself in her speeches.
If she succeeds, she will make herself useful and offer a credible alternative to our fellow citizens.
We must all, with a spirit of responsibility, contribute to the reconstruction of social peace.
My family is the Left, my camp is the Republic.
July 8 will begin a difficult and explosive period. The responsible Left must assert itself in the coming weeks and work with women and men of good will to rebuild our country in a fraternal and secular Republic.
Rémy Rebeyrotte must be one of them.

Claudette Brunet Lechenault
