They are “fed up with the low-cost police”. HAS Beauvaisin Oise, around forty municipal police officers were on “indefinite” strike this Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
The “PM” agents of the largest commune in the department arranged to meet in civilian clothes in front of theTown Hallfrom 9 a.m., to demonstrate and “make noise” at the foot of the municipal building with loud whistles.
Negotiations with the City for bonuses
With the desire to be heard, while negotiations between the town hall and its police on a new compensation scheme initiated recently have not been successful.
A decree dated June 26, 2024 provides for two bonuses, a fixed part of the compensation up to 30% of the maximum salary and a variable fixed by the community. Bonuses that the police don't want don't touch the discount !
“We were offered a 24% fixed salary bonus, but with a safeguard clause, certain salaries are fixed and therefore, that means no increase,” explains Dominique Lignier-Bicart, municipal police officer and general secretary of the CGT of agents. territories of Beauvaisis.
“They don’t listen to us”
A clause which “causes stagnation in the careers of agents”, underlines a police officer. “For ten years, some agents kept the same salary.”
The goal is to initiate a positive discussion because we want progress and under no circumstances a conflict.
The other point that is wrong with the Beauvais police officers is the variable bonus that will be paid to them annually by the City. “In many municipalities, the 5,000 euros gross were directly requested and granted. While we, we were reasonable and they don’t listen to us,” laments an agent.
Recruitment difficulties
The “PM” of Beauvais is therefore asking for a fixed bonus of 30%, “that it is not deducted when the agents are sick”, adds Dominique Lignier-Bicart, and “2,500 euros gross annually in variable bonus”. “The remaining part would allow night work and supervisors to be rewarded with an additional bonus,” they estimate.
“Feasible” demands according to the CGT. In addition, some Beauvais police officers report “difficulties recruiting” in their ranks.
Police officers received by the mayor
After less than an hour of demonstration, the municipal police learned that the mayor (UDI) of Beauvais, Franck Piaagreed to receive them in the morning.
At the end of the afternoon, negotiations were still underway between the two parties.
