An ambitious national strategy

The national household waste recovery program 2023-2034 aims to strengthen existing infrastructure while developing new capacities. This plan includes the construction of 50 provincial landfill and recovery centers, the completion of rehabilitation and closure projects of 233 old landfills, as well as the acquisition of equipment to modernize sanitation services.

In addition, the program aims to achieve a 100% collection and professional cleaning rate for household waste and provides technical assistance to strengthen the capacities of local authorities.

The total amount of planned investments amounts to 21.14 billion dirhams. Among these funds, 9.7 billion will be devoted to landfill and recovery centers for household waste, 695 million to the rehabilitation of old landfills, 1.2 billion DH for the acquisition of equipment to improve the management of landfill services. sanitation and 9.5 billion to improve collection and cleaning systems. An envelope of 60 million dirhams is also dedicated to technical assistance.

The Ministry of the Interior contributes 450 million dirhams per year, while the general state budget contributes 400 million dirhams annually.
