The FDSEA and the Young Farmers of Haute-Vienne carried out an unusual operation on the Grossereix roundabout in Limoges, Monday November 25, 2024. They planted nine trees. An action “symbolic” which aims to repair the damage caused during the farmers' protests at the start of 2024.
“Today, almost a year later, we are here, on this roundabout, symbolically on November 25, because on Sainte-Catherine, “all wood takes root”. We came to plant trees to rehabilitate the roundabout that we had damaged, because we are not breakers”explained to Popular of the Center Sébastien Petitjean, director of the FDSEA of Haute-Vienne. If planting these trees helps rehabilitate the place, farmers also see it as a symbol: “Planting trees, hoping that they take root, also means believing in the future. We believe in the future”added the director.

Resumption of mobilization
A breeder told France Bleu Limousin that it was also a means of preserving public opinion. “We will also have the great union victories if we have the support of the population”stressed Sébastien Petitjean to local radio.
Especially since the farmers resumed mobilization, considering that nothing had changed and that the promises had not been kept. For the moment, blockages like those at the start of the year are not on the agenda. Tuesday, November 26, farmers from the FDSEA and JA from Haute-Vienne were to meet the French Biodiversity Office (OFB), the Departmental Directorate of Territories (DDT) at the Departmental Council. Administrative simplification should in particular be discussed.
