The group Les Républicains du Finistère – chaired by Pierre Garec – issued a press release, castigating the position of La France insoumise (LFI) concerning the offense of glorifying terrorism.
“Weaken our criminal arsenal”
“While anti-Semitic acts are on the rise, like never before in 80 years, and the pressure of Islamist terrorism is increasing on France in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Republicans of Finistère are providing their support to the Minister of interior Bruno Retailleau in his categorical rejection of the proposed law of La France insoumise (LFI) aimed at eliminating the offense of glorifying terrorism. »

The Finistère group continues: “At a time when three LFI parliamentarians are currently the subject of complaints for advocating terrorism, their desire to see this offense suppressed illustrates LFI's desire to test our rule of law and weaken its democratic foundations. »
“As such, and faced with the deafening silence of their national leaders which reflects the influence and hegemony of LFI within the NFP, we urge the Finistère federations of the PS, EELV and PCF to clearly exit the the ambiguity maintained vis-à-vis the positions of LFI, which always goes further in its communitarian argument by now choosing to weaken our criminal arsenal in the fight against the threat Islamist. »
“How can we admit that Democrats can coexist in executives with those who flout our fundamental values, for purely electoral reasons? No half-measures and no retreat are allowed in the face of the enemies of the Republic! The Republicans will always stand in the way of those who want to weaken it. »
