Announced at the start of the week, the mobilization day did indeed take place on Wednesday, November 27, in Nimes (Gard). The meeting point was set at 6hin front of the Chamber of Agriculture. The protests didn't really go as planned.

Numerous damages were committed during the day. The Prefect, Jérôme Bonet, was quick to react at the end of the afternoon.


Deteriorations observed

According to our colleagues at Gazette de Nîmesfarmers were notably more than 200 near the Mutualité Sociale Agricole (MSA) towards 8 a.m.. This is where important damage was committedparticularly on the windows of the premises on the ground floor and the entrance hall.

Some demonstrators decided to wall off the entrances to the building. The CRS, present nearby, used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators.

A firm condemnation

This operation called “ Alaska » was not to the taste of the Prefect. At the end of the afternoon, Jérôme Bonet announced that he “condemns with the greatest firmness the acts of violencehaving leddamageon the sidelines of the farmers' demonstration, in the Nîmes sector.

Several investigations have already been opened following these actions. All are “placed under the authority of the public prosecutor of Nîmes, Cécile Gensac”, concludes the Prefect, Jérôme Bonet.
