Strasbourg's unmissable Christmas market opens its doors today. Among the new artisans, Jérémy Bertschy, a beekeeper in Moselle, is participating for the first time with his gingerbreads. His month of December promises to be…intense!
The unmissable Strasbourg Christmas market opens its chalets this November 27. Among the artisans present, Jérémy Bertschy, beekeeper in Fénêtre in Moselle, is participating for the first time with his famous gingerbreads.
“We are in the starting blocks”
The Strasbourg Christmas market, under the theme “Let's take the time to marvel”, welcomes more than 300 chalets. Among them, a new one: Jérémy Bertschy, beekeeper in Fénétang, in Moselle. Located a few meters from the Bas-Rhin, Jérémy's farm has 500 hives and extends partly into Alsace. The young man is participating in the Strasbourg Christmas market for the first time. “Everything is ready” details the Moselle. “The gingerbreads are out of the oven, ready to be wrapped and sent to the Christmas market.”
This month of December represents a major logistical challenge, with a production objective of “2 to 3,000 gingerbreads.” Although its main activity remains beekeeping, the manufacture of gingerbread becomes “an obligatory passage” every end of the year.
A month of December at 100% to satisfy demand
In preparing for his first Christmas market in Strasbourg, Jérémy Bertschy is doing everything possible to guarantee continuous production of his specialties. In anticipation of high demand, he manufactures and packages the gingerbreads, while his father manages the stand on the market. “It’s me who cooks, and my father who sells” concludes the beekeeper.
Its honeys and gingerbreads are to be tasted square Louise Weiss on the Strasbourg Christmas market.
