The City of Bourg-de-Péage is preparing to double its number of cameras on public roads and recruit municipal agents.

The Toll municipality led by the mayor, Nathalie Nieson, held a press briefing Tuesday November 12 during which new public safety priorities were outlined.

Doubling the cameras

In 2025the number of cameras in the city's public spaces should doubler (go from 30 currently to 60), with equipment on the main routes planned within a few months. On the five additional police officers who will be recruited, two will be assigned to strengthening the mission of video protection and monitoring compliance with regulated parking. Video fines should be implemented next year against traffic offenses.

An armed night brigade

In spring, another new feature: the arrival of an armed night brigade. It should be operational on the streets of the city from from 8 p.m. until 3 a.m.. These municipal police officers, intended for permanent use, will be equipped with telescopic batons and electric pulse guns.
