Installed in 2021, the new city council from Villers-Canivet (), near Falaise, decided to establish a tradition to greet births that occurred the previous year.

Opening this year's ceremony, Mayor Jean-Louis Bonne recalled: “a tree is a symbol of life, longevity and strength.” This year, the municipality is planting a flowering pear tree dedicated to the five girls, Alma, Anaëlle, Jeanne, Delya, Pia and Meyz the only boy, born in 2023.
