Nantes is far ahead of its Breton and Angevin neighbors. In the latest ranking, published on July 3, 2024, the city of the dukes finished in tenth place among the municipalities where it is good to study in 2024. It obtained a score of 84 out of 121, based on several criteria.

Recommended by 90% of students

90.54% of students surveyed would recommend Nantes, compared to 97.94% in Rennes.

The ranking highlights the transport offer, free on weekends, the attractiveness, the dynamism of employment and the many cultural activities of the city. The housing offer is considered satisfactory and access to care correct.

Housing, healthcare, sports, transport…

Each year, the media compares cities with more than 8,000 students. It focuses on the offers of studies, housing, sports and cultural activities, transport and access to healthcare.

Forty-seven municipalities are listed throughout France in three categories: metropolises with more than 40,000 students, large cities with between 20,000 and 40,000 students and medium-sized cities with up to 20,000 students.

Rennes second

Montpellier tops the general ranking, followed by Rennes, Caen, then Toulouse. Angers comes in sixth.

Caen is the best of the large cities and Orléans is aiming for the top of the ranking of medium-sized cities.
