Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the general management, the person holding this position will have the following responsibilities:

• Promote the organization’s activities and publications of documents (open letters, memos, reports, job offers, etc.) on a daily basis according to current editorial practices and in compliance with the organization’s graphic charter;
• Promote a positioning strategy for Laval focused on socio-ecological transition;
• Ensure continued visibility of the organization by feeding the various social media platforms and acting as webmaster for our bilingual website;
• Prepare monthly bilingual newsletters and the annual activity report;
• Write press releases and maintain good relations with local media;
• Support the team in carrying out mandates (e.g.: sustainable mobility, natural environments, waste management, etc.) and in reviewing documents;
• Carry out continuous monitoring with partners to identify their content needs and optimize the redistribution of their articles;
• Plan and coordinate the holding of activities and events in collaboration with the organization’s partners;
• Assist general management, as needed, in carrying out administrative tasks;
• Carry out strategic monitoring of best practices in the environment and sustainable development in Laval and Quebec;
• Manage the membership (both the memberships of the organization’s members and the organizations of which the CRE de Laval is a member);
• Get involved with the National Group of Regional Environmental Councils (RNCREQ), particularly during the RNCREQ Communication Committees;
• Carry out any other related tasks, including research and analysis;
• Answer/redirect calls and emails from the population.

Personal requirements and qualifications
• Have an exceptional command of the French language;
• Demonstrate dynamism and enthusiasm for the organization’s mission;
• Hold a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or related field or equivalent training;
• Have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience related to the position;
• Have excellent writing, synthesis and public communication skills;
• Demonstrate rigor, organization and know how to manage priorities;
• Demonstrate resourcefulness, autonomy and have a strong sense of initiative and responsibility;
• Have the ability to work under pressure, manage multiple files and/or projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines;
• Have good interpersonal skills and excellent team spirit;
• Have a good knowledge of graphic design platforms, social media and website management;
• Master spoken and written English, as the newsletter and website are bilingual. Assets:
• Have experience in press relations;
• Have a good knowledge of the issues of sustainable development and corporate social responsibility in Laval;
• Have experience in developing web tools.

Working conditions
•Start date: August 12, 2024;
•Expected contract end date: July 31, 2025;
•Detailed training will be provided by the communications and events project manager before she leaves on parental leave;
•Full-time position, 30-35 hours depending on needs;
• Flexible hours;
• Teleworking, face-to-face and travel to be expected in the Laval area;
• Salary according to experience;
• Vacation, sick leave and personal leave upon taking up the position and 2 weeks of leave at the end of the year;
