This Wednesday, November 27, Ariège farmers are mobilizing in turn after their Catalan counterparts yesterday, with two actions planned on the roads of the department. The majority unions, the FDSEA and the Young Farmers, are planning filter dams. They denounce the free trade treaty between Europe and Mercosur, as well as the insufficiency of aid in the face of losses caused this year by drought and bluetongue.

From 10 a.m., a first filter barrier will be in place on the RN 20, at the Sabart roundabout, in Tarascon-sur-Ariège. Leaflets and local products will be distributed throughout the day. A second system, dedicated to heavy goods vehicles, will begin at 8 p.m. at the Prat-Bonrepaux roundabout, after a convoy of tractors leaving from Montjoie-en-Couserans. These operations are expected to cause significant slowdowns in both directions.

The Ariège Prefecture recommends that motorists anticipate their trips and follow the alternative routes indicated. She also recalls the reinforced presence of law enforcement to secure the premises and streamline traffic.

Alternative routes recommended by the Prefecture

In the direction Tarascon-sur-Ariège/Sinsat on the RN 20: RD 618, RD123 then exit on RN20 by the
Ussat bridge (one way).

In the direction Sinsat/Tarascon-sur-Ariège on the RN 20: exit from the RN20 via the Ornolac bridge
(one way) then RD123 to Tarascon, RD123a, RD618y, RD618.

HGVs will not be able to travel on this route and will have to take the diversion set up via
Mirepoix.
