Requisitions continue at trial of the Mazan rapes. Jean-François Mayet and Laure Chabaud, the two representatives of the public prosecutor, had demanded on Monday the maximum sentence of 20 years of criminal imprisonment against Dominique Pelicot, 71 years old. The man admitted to having drugged his wife, Gisèle Pelicot, with anxiolytics for around ten years in order to rape her and have her raped by dozens of men recruited on the Internet.

This Tuesday, the two prosecutors took turns to request the sentences of 26 others of the 50 co-defendants in this trial. Little by little, Jean-François Mayet and Laure Chabaud increased the content of the sentences requested, while taking into account the seriousness of the acts alleged against each accused, as well as their criminal record or their recognition or not of guilt.

Wednesday November 27, it will be the turn of Beatrice ZavarroDominique Pelicot's lawyer, to make her plea, after more than two months of hearing. “It will be you and me against the whole world”she told her client before the trial began. In the Quotidien report, broadcast this Tuesday, we see the magistrate heavily booed as she left the court on November 25.

Béatrice Zavarro's husband accompanies his wife to the court every day to support her. “I don't know if I'm going to sound credible, but the cause of women, this is a real cause. I was raised with sisters, so I was raised to respect women. This goes in contradiction, perhaps, with the fact that my wife defends Monsieur Pelicot but society is as it is”, explains the latter at the microphone of Daily. Then added: “From a more private point of view, it is necessary to be there for psychological and physical support (…) I will be there until the end”. The trial verdict is expected no later than December 20.
