“It’s incredible”: filmed in Haute-Loire by two young directors, the historic film “Arlempdes” is released nationally this Wednesday

Filmed at the end of last year in Haute-, the medieval film on the castle of Arlempdes and its history is released nationally this Wednesday. While the feature film seems to be popular in large and small cinemas alike, the directors are already thinking about the sequel…

It's the big day and a huge recognition for the two directors and actors, Marina Golenko and Titouan Monnier. After a long series of previews of the historic film on the epic tale of the Château d'Arlempdes in Haute-Loire, the feature film is officially released nationally this Wednesday, November 27 in many theaters in , including cinemas du Puy obviously.
The first screenings in the department were a real success. It now remains to be seen how this film will be received, which deals with a little-known local history in which Protestants and Catholics engage in a merciless battle for the capture of the first fortress of the Loire.
, , , and even Clermont-Ferrand… The historical film seems to work in large cinemas as well as in small ones. “Previews in big cities fill up almost as quickly as at the Ciné Dyke du Puy. We are so happy. We are scheduled in huge, quality cinemas like the Megarama in Bordeaux, a 17-screen structure. They take us one session a day, it’s incredible,” says Titouan, co-director of the film Arlempdes.

If the film has aroused the curiosity of many inhabitants of Haute-Loire, the challenge is quite different for the national release which is aimed at a completely different audience; Titouan and Marina being well aware of the difficulty of the cinematographic world. Nearly sixty cinemas have planned to broadcast this film made in Haute-Loire. A huge performance because “with such a small budget, you have to be crazy to embark on a project like this”, we heard during a preview at Le Puy.

A broadcast on streaming platforms and a DVD release are also planned. If the images of the film with its bloody and very realistic battles largely appealed to the first spectators, the soundtrack of the feature film was also very appreciated. So much so that the two directors decided to release the film's soundtrack. A CD of 25 tracks, performed by Cédric Mazzoni, is available on the site

“This support has been requested a lot from us, particularly for songs in old French. There are also quite a few more epic orchestral pieces on the chivalric scenes. There is also medieval music as we can hear during the King of the Bird. This is beautiful, engaging music performed by real musicians. It’s music that was designed for the film, production of which began after reading the script,” explains Titouan Monnier.

Another film in Haute-Loire?

It is only in the draft stage but, without revealing too much, Titouan Monnier suggested to l'Éveil that another film, still made in Haute-Loire, would be in the pipeline. “We are already writing and it will still be linked to a local historical fact, but not necessarily to the medieval period. Above all, we have to get back on our feet with Arlempdes,” confides the young director.
