In view of the 2030 World Cup, several major projects will shape the kingdom, the Casablanca-Settat region will be the epicenter of this economic effervescence and this national craze, these projects are structured around three axes, including road projects, projects to combat shanty towns, and tourism projects. This economic revival will trickle down the entire Moroccan economic fabric and innervate the Casablanca metropolis with its benefits. Placing the economic capital at the center of the Kingdom’s investments. Indeed, an envelope equivalent to 24.7 billion dirhams will be allocated to improve the Casablanca-Settat region.

Morocco has begun a major transformation with the organization of the tripartite 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal, the Kingdom has launched pharaonic projects changing the entire ecosystem of the country’s infrastructure. Indeed, several large stadiums will be built and will be fitted out for the organization of this world-class event.

During the construction of these stadiums, major ancillary projects were started, in particular the opening up of these stadiums. Let us take for example the future large stadium of Casablanca located in Benslimane, precisely in the Mansouria district, which will also be the future jewel of Moroccan sport promising to revolutionize the football landscape in Morocco. Once completed, the large stadium of Casablanca will be distinguished by a capacity of 115,000 spectators, which will make it one of the largest stadiums on the African continent.

It is with this in mind that an agreement was signed and adopted on Monday, July 1, for the development of road axes to connect the future large stadium of Casablanca located in Benslimane and Mohammedia. The first axis of this agreement of 5.1 billion dirhams concerns road infrastructures to improve access and smooth traffic flow to the Grand Stade de Casablanca, on the North and West sides. The second axis concerns highway-related infrastructures.

Furthermore, the share of participation of the Casablanca-Settat region in this project amounts to 500 million dirhams, while that of the Ministry of Economy amounts to 2.2 billion dirhams, the Ministry of Equipment and Water to 1.9 billion dirhams and ADM to 400 million dirhams.

In order to supervise the implementation of this project, a monitoring committee will be created, chaired by the wali of the region, it will be made up of the president of the regional council of Casablanca, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the general director of ADM, the regional director of the Ministry of Equipment and Water of Casablanca-Settat, a representative of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, a representative of the wilaya, a president of the permanent commission for transport and mobility, renewable energies, territorial development and essential equipment of the regional council.

The agreement concluded between several stakeholders aims to develop different road axes linking the future stadium to Benslimane and Mohammedia. A very important project is being studied in the fight against the shanty towns in the region. This is a state program, worth more than 18 billion dirhams, in which the region will participate to the tune of 500 million dirhams. The World Cup is a sporting event, a budget of 1.1 billion dirhams is allocated for this purpose, in which the region will participate to the tune of 350 million dirhams.

The project in question will include a contract established between several stakeholders for the operationalization of a work plan in the tourism sector by 2026, for an amount of 949 million dirhams, in which the region is participating to the tune of 139.6 million dirhams. As well as a partnership agreement for the acquisition of four tourist buses and the development of a tourist circuit in Casablanca for 25 million dirhams. The draft agreement for the establishment of a tourist communication and signage system, improvement of the visual aspect of tourist areas and circuits, and the creation of tourist orientation spaces for 50 million dirhams. As well as the partnership project for supporting tourism development in the region’s old medinas for 177 million dirhams.

The project focuses on major axes and major projects, the aim of which is the preparation of the 2030 World Cup, but also investment and job creation. Finally, one of the main factors taken into consideration in the choice of projects is correlated with performance.
