Acclaimed Australian actress and producer Cate Blanchett will receive a special honour at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Two-time Oscar winner to receive award Share Her Journey Groundbreaker during the tribute awards evening of TIFF September 8th.

The award honors women in the film industry who help advance the careers of their female colleagues, and Blanchett will join past winners Patricia Arquette and Michelle Yeoh.

The actress of the film Tar will also participate in an event titled In Conversation Withoffering the public a look back at his career.

The President and CEO of TIFF, Cameron Baileysaid Ms. Blanchett was being honored as tireless champion of increased fairness and justice in many sectors.

The festival also plans to pay tribute to the Toronto filmmaker. David Cronenberg by awarding him the prize Norman Jewison Career Achievement and to Amy Adams by awarding him an acting prize at the ceremony.

The 49th TIFF will take place from September 5 to 15.
