A return home. Hooker Torsten Van Jaarsveld returns to Aviron Bayonnais for the coming weeks, as a medical joker. An arrival which should make up for the absence of Vincent Giudicelli, injured in the right shoulder after a trauma. Torsten van Jaarsveld (37) spent five seasons at Bayonne, from 2018 to 2023, with whom he was twice French Pro D2 champion. The Namibian international had freelanced in Mont-de-Marsan, for 15 matches played, after the 2023 World Cup and since the end of his contract with the Landes club, he had remained on the Basque coast, to work individually in waiting for a club to come forward.
It was therefore Rowing which came to look for its former player. The management of the club on the banks of Nive initially tried it with the hooker of Biarritz Olympique, Luteru Tolai (26 years old), but the injury to Clément Martinez ruled out this possibility. It was ultimately the veteran of the house, with reliable throws, who was called upon.
