She was due to give birth a few days later. A 29-year-old pregnant woman was the victim of a serious traffic accident in Noyal-Châtillon-sur-Seiche, Friday November 22, 2024 in the middle of the afternoon.
As she was preparing to cross a pedestrian crossing, she lost her balance and fell to the ground before being hit by a truck. In cardiorespiratory arrest when help arrived, she was transported in serious condition to Pontchaillou University Hospital. Although she was finally able to be resuscitated, her eight-month-old baby did not survive.
The driver positive for alcohol
The driver of the truck was immediately taken into custody following the accident. According to the first elements of the investigation communicated by the prosecution, the latter had a positive blood alcohol level at the time of the facts. Pending developments in the victim's health, his police custody was lifted after his driving license was withheld.
“Investigations must continue to try to determine whether the victim fell under the wheels of the vehicle or whether the driver of the latter had time to avoid him,” specifies the prosecution. An accident assessment was ordered.
