What if we all had a nice Christmas? In the GHEF hospitals (Grand Hôpital de l'Est Francilien), many children will spend the end of year holidays in their rooms. Whether it's a broken finger, a fractured leg or even a more stubborn pathology… Some children certainly didn't expect to spend Christmas in the hospital. For the third year in a row, bikers unite for a good cause: the Christmas Road Trip. Organized by l’association Scott & Cothe bikers' tour should pass through: the Pays de Meaux, Val d'Europe Agglomération, Marne et Gondoire and Coulommiers Pays de Brie. The Christmas Road Trip, gifts by the thousands.
What is the Christmas Road Trip? On Christmas Eve, you inevitably stand in front of your Christmas tree to open your presents… In the hospital, children don't experience the same thing. To bring a little joy to sick children, the Scott & Co association joins forces with bikers for the third time. “ The principle is to bring together bikers at large heart (obviously) over a route of around a hundred kilometers which will cover the three sectors in which the GHEF hospitals are located: Jossigny, Coulommiers and Meaux. Bikers were asked to bring a new toy (unwrapped). We are going to collect other new toys from the towns which we will distribute over the three hospitals. » Do you want to make a gesture? Don’t hesitate to drop off your gift! Every gesture counts! On Sunday December 1, 2024, a procession of 350 bikers will wander throughout Northern Seine-et-Marne. They will leave from the Colisée de Meaux at 8:15 a.m. To drop off your gift, simply go to one of the stopover points at Magny-le-Hongre, Chanteloup-en-Brie, La Ferté-sous-Jouarre or even Meaux.
A solidarity loop of more than 100km. At 8:15 a.m., the bikers will leave from the Colisée (Meaux) to reach the different collection points: Quincy-VoisinsMontry, Chanteloup-en-Brie et Jossigny. « We will stop at the hospital to meet the children who will be hospitalized that day. » After greeting the children, the procession will leave for Magny-le-HongreCrécy-la-Chapelle, CoulommiersJouarre, La Ferté-sous-Jouarre and Sammeron… before returning to Meaux around 1:15 p.m., Place de l’Hôtel de Ville. This year is a record… 350 bikers travel across the region to collect toys left by supportive souls. « It's a very big organization for the association but we ourselves are bikers. This idea was not invented on our own… When our child was sick in December 2018, he was able to see a procession of bikers in Reims. It really affected us. We thought the idea was great. The biker responds easily to this type of event… There are many moms and dads. » With motorcycles decorated in Christmas colors, the bikers bring a little joy to the children… All with their beards blowing in the wind! “ In the morning, we all meet up to discuss the association's objectives (and security aspects). The town hall of Magny-le-Hongre welcomes us by doing what is necessary to be able to offer a coffee, a small cake and a hot chocolate to the bikers who got up very, very early to join us. The Leclerc in La Ferté-sous-Jouarre also welcomes us… We will finish at the Coliseum with a meal which is offered to bikers (200-250 bikers remain). » A friendly morning that some bikers wouldn't miss for anything in the world… They all want to be part of this great celebration!
« It's important to be able to give them this gift with which they will be able to go home ! »
Do you want to help the association? There is no small thing… Every gesture counts! Whatever our means, solidarity is priceless. “ We put smiles on the faces of children who are hospitalized during a family holiday period, a time when they should be at home. For some, they are locked in a sterile room (when we talk about cancer) or hospitalized with invasive care… They should not be there at that time. It’s a month of celebration, a month where we wait for Santa Claus with great impatience… and not the next chemo. » Often, hospitalization (in the middle of the holiday season) can destroy the morale of the troops… Thanks to this Christmas Road Tripchildren like their parents find a little smile again. “ We are lucky to be in France, France takes care of children's care. There are other treatments in parallel which are the responsibility of the parents, care which is burdensome and sometimes not feasible. When you have to make a choice between gifts and treatment, it's not normal. » Would you like to give the children a small gift? It's always possible! Until Sunday December 1, 2024, you can still drop off your gift at one of the partner town halls. “ Indeed, we have planned the vans. Last year we had two large trucks to deliver to the hospital…. Since we have a hundred more bikers, I think we might have to think about an additional truck to be able to deliver. » A beautiful Christmas story worthy of the greatest TV films… Solidarity in its purest form!
« We're just here for the kids. That’s what’s wonderful! Last year, the police and gendarmes stayed with us. We had a good time together ! » The spirit of Christmas is obviously the magic of the holidays… But it is also solidarity! On Sunday December 1, 2024, the third edition of the Christmas Road Trip will allow the Scott & Co association to bring a little joy to hospitalized children. More information, right here.
