A Godmothers’ House to accommodate vulnerable young women

Our guest in ICI Matin on Bleu Provence: Dounia Rekiouak, director of development of the La Maison des Marraines system at the Impala Avenir association.

On November 22, 2024, welcomed a major initiative for the social and professional integration of young women in difficulty: the opening of a new Maison des Marraines in the premises of Afpa La Treille, east of Marseille .

In Marseille, a new House of Godmothers of the association Impala Future opens its doors to support young women aged 18 to 25 in precarious situations. Accommodation, social and professional support: this system is supported by the Impala Avenir association in partnership with Afpa and the Mission Locale.

This event, marked by the signing of an agreement, brought together Crama Trouillot-du Boys, president of the Impala Avenir association, Alain Mahé, regional director of Afpa Paca, Xavier Raby, director of the Afpa La Treille center, and Furace Josette, president of the Local Mission of Marseille. In the presence of guests such as Éric Semerdjian, municipal councilor responsible for social innovation and the co-production of public action, and Agnès Lonchamp, departmental delegate for Women's Rights and Equality, this inauguration highlighted a project at the heart of the social concerns of our region.

A tailor-made support project

Since 2019, the Maison des Marraines has set itself the mission of supporting young women aged 18 to 25, without children and in precarious situations, by offering them:

  • And free hosting for a period of three months, renewable,
  • Social and professional support aimed at defining their life project, particularly through training or job searching.

In return, beneficiaries undertake to follow a structured integration path, designed to enable them to achieve lasting autonomy. This is what the National Agency for Adult Vocational Training (Afpa) is proposing.

A proven model

After supporting more than 200 young women in Champs-sur- (Île-de-France) and in Hauts-de-France (, , ), the Maison des Marraines is broadening its scope with this first establishment in the south of France.

A strengthened solidarity network

Each beneficiary is accompanied by a godmother or godfather, whose role is to build a bond of trust and support throughout their journey. At the same time, collective workshops and regular meetings are organized to strengthen this network of solidarity and encourage the sharing of experiences.

The system works on the principle of a godson-godmother duo
