Agricultural crisis in Haute-Vienne: manure and tires dumped in front of the office of MP Stéphane Delautrette

Bales of hay, tires and various waste blocked access to the office of the PS deputy for Haute- Stéphane Delautrette, this Monday morning in Nexon. A action carried out by Rural Coordinationas evidenced by a banner signed “CR 87” and posters plastered on the door on which one could read “Since the State is failing, agricultural and rural resistance is acting” or even “Leave us alone, let us work!” The parliamentarian says he understands the anger of farmers and shares their concern, but he adds “Such action is not acceptable, especially given my consistent positions.”

A conviction in substance and in form

In a press release, Stéphane Delautrette insists that he is “against the signing of the treaty with MERCOSUR, against the danger that it represents in terms of unfair competition and endangerment of our agricultural model”but also “for the preservation and revaluation of income and pensions of our farmers, essential pillars of our country.” He also regrets the “waste of time and public money” because agents from the town of Nexon and the Pays de Nexon – Monts de Chalus community of communes were mobilized to clear and clean the premises. The socialist deputy concludes “while reaffirming my support for farmers, I strongly condemn such acts which cannot serve the profession that the union in question intends to defend.”
