The accident took place this Sunday afternoon on ramp 18 of the A89 in Terrasson (Dordogne). France Bleu revealed that a car ended up on the other side of the guardrail, in a ravine. The cause of the accident is not known at this time, but the police attended the scene.
Initial reports indicated no injuries, but traffic was severely disrupted throughout the afternoon. Firefighters and police arrived around 1 p.m., shortly after the accident. Although traffic was not initially interrupted, it had to be cut in both directions to bring in the tow truck.
Traffic cut in both directions
The information was relayed on account X of the A89 motorway. The repair teams intervened after 2 p.m., but traffic had to be stopped in both directions, thus creating significant delays.
Ramp number 18 therefore remained unusable for a while. Fortunately, thanks to the efficiency of the intervention teams and the presence of law enforcement, traffic was able to resume in the afternoon. Although no injuries were reported, the causes of the accident have yet to be found.
