Legislative elections 2024: the left comes first in the first round in the three constituencies of the Basque Country

On a map of France in dark colors, the three districts of the Basque Country, tinted with pink, stand out as exceptions. The three candidates of the New Popular Front, in fact, came out on top ahead of candidates from the National Rally or the presidential majority or similar. Three triangulars are emerging, unless there are withdrawals to block this or that camp.

On the 4th constituency (Basque-Béarnaise), Iñaki Echaniz in charge

The candidate of the New Popular Front, the outgoing socialist deputy, Iñaki Echaniz, arrive en tête with 38.01% of the votes. In second place, Sylviane Lopez (National Rally) won 25.62% of the votes. In third place, the free electron Jean Lassalle (Resist!) in front of whom the presidential majority had not put any candidates, won 18.05% of the votes. They can all stay for a triangular in the second round.

In the 5th constituency (Bayonne, Anglet, Bidache), Colette Capdevielle in first place

The candidate of the New Popular Front, Colette Capdevielle, comes firstwith 32.30% of the vote. In second place, Serge Rosso, from the National Rally, won 27.54% of the vote. In third place, the presidential majority led by Florence Lasserre (Ensemble), won 26.63% of the vote. They can all stay in office for a triangular in the second round.

In the 6th constituency (Biarritz, Hendaye), Peio Dufau comes first

The candidate of the New Popular Front, Peio Dufau, comes first, with 29.43% of the votes. In second position, the presidential majority led by Christian Devèze (Ensemble) won 26.92% of the votes. In third place, Victor Lastécouères (Ciotti-National Rally), won 25.29% of the votes. They can all hold on for a triangular in the second round.

It is higher than the national rate which stands at 67.5%.
