A new ban on the consumption of tap water in six communes of Montreuillois, in Pas-de-Calais, was announced on Saturday November 24 by the Communauté d'Agglomération des 2 Baies en Montreuillois (CA2BM). This is the second in less than a month.

“Always the same scenario: analyzes from the Regional Health Agency (ARS) are non-compliant“, explains Marc Olin, communications director of CA2BM.
In question: too high a rate of Escherichia coli bacteria and of coliform bacteria in the water taken on November 21 from the tap at the Widehem school. A new sample was taken, the results of which will be known within 48 hours.
On Saturday, the Urban Community announced a temporary ban on the consumption of “tap water for everyday use” for six communes of Montreuillois, a little more than two weeks after the first.
The inhabitants of the municipalities of Bernieulles, Cormont, Hubersent, Widehem, Lefaux et the Tour (municipality of Frencq) are concerned. Their water consumption as a drink, for cleaning teeth, preparing food and washing raw vegetables should be made from bottled water, as a precaution. “It is possible to continue to use tap water for other uses (body wash, laundry, dishes, WC)“, adds the Community of Communes.
Upon presentation of proof of address, residents can collect bottles of water from the town halls of the municipalities concerned since Saturday 6:30 p.m. Two bottles per resident per day are provided by the municipalities.
On November 6, the same bans on the use of water for food in the same six municipalities were announced by the CA2BM. The cause was also the same: too many Escherichia coli bacteria and coliform bacteria detected.
Other municipalities in Montreuillois faced this same problem from August 2024.
CA2BM will inform its residents of the results of the new analyzes in the coming days.
