POLITICS / The NFP collective calls for broader consultation for the success of the left in Gap
– Hautes-Alpes –
On November 15, several left-wing parties (Europe Écologie Les Verts, the Communist Party, the Socialist Party, Gap Otherwise, and Territoires Écologie et Solidarités) announced their agreement to lead a common list for the 2026 municipal elections, with Élie Cordier in top of the list. However, this announcement took place without the participation of France Insoumise and the Ambitions pour Gap organization, raising concerns within the Gap NFP collective. For the collective, which brings together citizens, parties and organizations from the NFP after the victory of Marie Jo Allemand in the legislative elections, the current division of the left is a worrying sign. They believe that the victory of the left at the town hall of Gap is impossible without a broad union of political forces, following the example of the rallying dynamic which allowed the election of the deputy. They regret the lack of prior consultation with all NFP stakeholders before issuing the press release. The collective therefore calls on the parties to quickly organize a consultation with all of Gap's key players (unions, associations, citizens) in order to co-construct a municipal program. This participatory process, according to them, must make it possible to choose the head of the list with complete transparency and legitimacy. The NFP collective recalls its desire to consolidate the establishment of the NFP locally, in response to policies deemed neoliberal and anti-social, and reaffirms its commitment to participatory democracy, particularly through actions of resistance and solidarity, such as the opposition to the 2030 Olympics and support for tenants in difficulty.
