Many associations offer their specialties, to take away or to enjoy on the go. As for drinks, they are in the spotlight on the stands, because this is the theme chosen for this 29e edition of Linguafest37, just like Europe, “the continent of honor of this edition of the Language Festival”recalls the president, Stavros Hadjiyianni.
So, wandering around the 50 stands, it is of course ouzo that we find on the Hellenic stand, a multitude of Japanese teas at HinOde which explains the ceremony and tasting. Nice detours to approach culture. At the Finland stand, we discover the cult devoted to coffee there. “This drink, which almost all people on earth drink, has a particularly important character in Finnish culture. Arriving in 1720 at the time of Finland's annexation to the Kingdom of Sweden, it established itself as the inevitable drink from morning to evening. No less than 10 kg consumed in a year by Finns, compared to 4.5 in France…”
In France since 1955, Eila Conte has not missed an edition of the festival since her arrival in Tours five years ago. “Living in old Tours, I always spend a lot of time there. » But this year, mandated by the Finnish association in France, she moved heaven and earth to represent her native country. She is accompanied by Paivi Kapuppila, a Finnish teacher in Paris, and her daughter, Kia. Three generations to talk about history, literature, discovery of the country which neighbors Russia on 1,340 km of border.
