“We heard screams non-stop”: a woman stabbed to death in Val-d’Oise, her daughter in police custody

The fire to which the firefighters of Magny-en-Vexin (Val-d'Oise) intervened at the end of the week actually hid another tragedy. The body of a woman aged around 45 was found Friday morning on the first floor of a peaceful residence, rue Molière.

It was not even 7 a.m. when the residents of the building, located near the stadium, were awakened by the intervention of firefighters and, for some, by the smell of smoke. “I thought we were all going to be evacuated due to a fire,” confides a man present in the building at the time of the incident. But in reality they didn't need to take anyone out. »

The girl was “in her bath”

The firefighters quickly brought the fire under control using a water hose. And it turns out that the fire actually boiled down to some burning newspapers in the living room. From the very smoky apartment, emergency services extract a victim in cardiorespiratory arrest. However, they quickly noticed that she had numerous injuries that had nothing to do with the fire.

Unfortunately, the tenant could not be revived. She died of “several stab wounds,” the public prosecutor confirmed to us this Saturday. The latter's daughter was also in the home. The young woman was “in her bath”, according to a local source. She allegedly claimed not to have noticed the fire. Initially transported to hospital, she was then placed in police custody.

“As soon as she was at her mother’s it was horrible”

In the neighborhood, residents are dismayed by these dramatic events. The victim is described “as a very discreet woman, who never made people talk about her. »

His daughter, on the other hand, aged around thirty, is not unknown to anyone. She was often present in the apartment, according to residents, even though she was apparently not officially resident there. “We heard a lot of noise, shouting, it was non-stop,” says a neighbor. The noise was such that the police were often called to calm the situation. “When we passed her outside walking around, she wasn't the same person, she seemed normal. But as soon as she was in her mother's apartment it was horrible. »

The day before the tragedy had been particularly turbulent in the small building. “All afternoon she had been shouting. She had even thrown objects out of the window, plates, a broom. There was a break in the early evening and then it started again until 3am. It's even unbelievable that we can scream and behave like that for so many hours straight. »

Unfortunately, what looked like a violent crisis ended in tragedy. The residents understood this when they saw the stretcher pass under their window in the early morning. “If I had known, I would have gone up and tried to do something,” whispers a person present that night. “But these scenes were so recurring that it didn’t worry us that much. » Psychiatric disorders are hinted at to explain the young woman's behavior. “Her mother knew she could be violent, but she was her only daughter so…”

This Saturday afternoon, gendarmerie investigators were still on site to carry out surveys. An investigation is underway to try to elucidate the exact circumstances of this homicide.
