Entertainment. The 22nd Colombey-les-Deux-Eglises Antiques and Flea Market Fair was inaugurated this Saturday, November 23, at the gymnasium. Each new edition bringing its share of surprises, this 22nd year is no exception, with decorative objects and old furniture of rare beauty. The show continues this Sunday, until 6 p.m.
“What will be my favorite this year? » This is what we generally say to ourselves when we enter the grounds of the Colombey sports center, redeveloped every year for more than 20 years into a veritable Ali Baba's cave by Patrick Paintendre, the organizer of this unique event in Haute-Marne: “You should know that this antiques fair is the only one still standing in the department. Another will be set up in February in Montier-en-Der, with the same quality requirements, also in partnership with the municipality,” explained the Colombian antiques dealer during the inauguration. The choice of professionals, antique dealers and second-hand dealers from the four corners of France, is often dictated by friendship, because everyone has known Le Téméraire (antiques) de Colombey for many years, having exhibited with him in several renowned fairs: experts in art or antique furniture from Verdun and Marseille, a paper seller from Auxerre, a costume designer from Strasbourg, a couple of antique dealers from Dijon or even Reims. Each of them came with rare pieces, which they are happy to present to visitors by retracing, often with passion, their origin and their path to us. Just for the pleasure of the eyes, the visit is pleasant. You can spend time admiring the hangings, the lamps, the sculptures, the armchairs, the beautiful old-fashioned woven cushion covers, the feather hats, the posters from the interwar period, the books, the crockery , unusual objects and of course jewelry, which is always very successful.
