Saturday November 23, the yellow snow and ice vigilance has been lifted in the morning. “Since yesterday, interventions by emergency services and calls to 17 and 18 have dropped significantly,” notes the prefecture.

Traffic conditions “returned to normal”

“Traffic conditions have returned to normal on almost the entire road network,” state services inform.

However, they can still remain delicate, even difficult, in places, particularly in the north of the bocage.

Still 9,400 homes without electricity

Power cuts remain significant, with 9,400 homes still without electricity this Saturday morning at 7 a.m., compared to 13,500 the day before at 6 p.m. and 36,500 Thursday evening.

These power cuts are spread across the entire department and hit the west and the Bretoncelles sector hardest.

“Everything is being done to restore power as quickly as possible. Enedis' resources are still growing in strength today, with more than 200 committed professionals in the field and the reinforcement of other departments and service providers. »

Two helicopters also fly over the department to speed up operations to identify and repair line cuts.

The objective of restoring more than 90% of homes without electricity by this evening is confirmed.

Any incident or anomaly observed must be reported to Enedis via the number 09 726 750 61, reachable 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

More than 200 interventions and “surges of solidarity”

Since the start of the Caetano storm, the security and rescue forces have carried out 206 interventions in connection with snow and ice to rescue people, without victims or serious injuries.

The departmental crisis center at the prefecture (COD) remains on standby until all homes deprived of electricity are restored.

The prefect of Orne “thanks for their engagement all staff, Sdis 61 firefighters, gendarmes, police officers, Departmental Council agents, Enedis technicians, employees and volunteers of associations, mobilized since Thursday morning throughout the department.

He also salutes “the citizen gestures and the outpouring of solidarity from our compatriots who came to the aid of people in distress, in particular farmers who intervened with their tractors to free stranded motorists.”
