Best Martinican ranked last year at the Fort de France half-marathon, Fabio Thaly wants to do it again this year, but above all to improve his time and his place. The Golden Star member has focused everything in recent weeks on rigorous training and test races.
In 2023, barely licensed at Golden Star, Fabio Thaly ranked 8e of the Fort-de-France half-marathon with a time of 1h11'05''. However, it was the first time that he tackled these 21km100. He who at the age of 19 made his running debut in stadiums, first over 800m and 1500m, before moving outside the stadiums, into cross country, 5km and then 10km.
An almost atypical profile, because originally, Fabio Thaly is a swimmer. Licensed at Schoelcher Natation 2000, from the age of 4 until the age of 18. Already there, he stands out, in small pools as well as in open water, as comfortable as a fish in water. But studies took him away from the warm waters of Martinique for a while, so he took up running and discovered just as many skills and passion.
Among other feats of arms in recent seasons, Fabio Thaly tested himself in the French 10 km road championships. In March 2023 in Houilles (Yvelines), he established his personal best performance in 31'02''. Then this year, in April 2024 this time in Roanne (Loire) he displays almost regularity there with a 31'14'', his best performance of the season.
A few days later, the Goldenist won the Foyalais strides, supports of the 10 km championship and was therefore crowned Champion of Martinique. On November 11, for his last full-scale test before the semi, he dominated the 10 km of Rivière salée.
I'm in good shape, although in September I had dengue fever so it was quite complicated. But for the past month I have been working hard on semi preparation, I was able to do a few competitions to prepare for it. Here I am rather satisfied with the preparation and I have good ambitions for this 2024 edition. My objective this time would be to make a Top 5, that is to say aim for 1h08. I would be really satisfied if I could achieve these two goals
