Unique in its kind, Linguafest, the language festival, is included in the annual calendar of major events in Touraine and regional cultural life. Every year, for almost thirty years, thousands of visitors flock to Linguafest, whether they are passionate about languages, world cultures, or simply out of curiosity and a spirit of discovery.

Upstairs in the Tours halls, around fifty stands await them with all-round activities around foreign languages and customs. And it's free!

Originally, it was an American Esperanto-speaking linguist, Dennis Keefe, who created the Linguafest'37 association in 1995. Today, the association has around a hundred members who are involved in this event, but also, all year round, in conference programs, language courses, concerts, dance performances, mini language festivals in neighborhoods and schools. Without forgetting the entertainment at the Language Café in Tours, every Wednesday. Always with this credo: “The discovery, promotion and teaching of any ancient, current or future language, language, writing and mode of communication. »

Learn Chinese, Italian, Swahili in forty minutes…

And, thanks to a well-established organization, forty-minute lessons will allow young and old alike to learn the language of their choice, from Chinese to Italian, including Greek or Swahili, when others prefer to try their hand at the rudiments of the Phoenician or Persian language.

Pendant these two days, activities, language courses and conferences will follow one another, interspersed with dance, songs, music, cooking, presentations of costumes or crafts, and even a board game created for the occasion: The Drink Route!
