That midday, despite the rain, the queue of customers stretched on the sidewalk of Boulevard Jean-Jaurès, in Boulogne-Billancourt. High school students with two-wheel helmets in hand, employees of an accounting firm laughing, a young couple huddled under an umbrella, a woman with a baby in a sling… The profiles are varied, the goal is the same: test Master Chickenthe new offer of fast food which raised the curtain a few days ago.
“Affordable price should not be in exchange for quality”
Located a stone's throw from Place Marcel-Sembat, in place of the historic gold sales and purchase shop, the brand specializing in roast chicken offers, for takeaway only, a simple and effective formula: chicken (whole, half, drumstick, thigh, wing, breast, sausage or donut), a choice of 5 accompaniments (Thai rice, pasta, puree, alloco banana , potatoes) and 3 sauces (green, onion, spicy), a drink and a dessert.
The prices are nothing terrible: 7.50 euros for a whole chicken2.50 euros per thigh, 1 euro per sausage, 5 euros for 6, the most expensive side dish (alloco bananas) at 4 euros. And the quality is there, if we are to believe this employee, who brought along a few colleagues with her: “I discovered it by chance a few days ago and, frankly, for the price, I don't Didn't expect it to taste so good. »
This should delight the founder of the young brand, Chouaib Benbakirfor whom “affordable price should not be in exchange for quality”. And to want to prove it to us by letting us into the small kitchen where things are going wild, show cooking style.
“Only donuts are industrial,” Chouaib Benbakir immediately points out. Everything else is cooked on sitebased on ingredients that come from France or Europe. “Our chicken is raised in the Netherlands. Not in the open air, but it's not low-end either,” he insists, before showing here the French extra virgin olive oil, there the pasta from a well-known Italian brand.
Offer good at low costin a strategic location in Boulogne, because it is busy and well served, but also competitive, with fast-food heavyweights and popular kebabs, the bet was daring… And more than motivated Chouaib Benbakir, who absolutely wanted to put a paw in the largest city in Île-de-France after Paris.
“The ideal address”
“Boulogne-Billancourt is the ideal address: it is located on a very important road, close to the ring road, it has 110,000 workers, there is a good standard of living, with very high profile residents. varied, ranging from very well-off people to much more popular people,” lists the young boss.
But to convince the town hall of Pierre-Christophe Baguet (LR), he had to make some concessions. The main one being to commit to “not going on home delivery platforms, such as UberEats or Deliveroo”. For many years, the nuisances linked to scooter deliveries have indeed been in the crosshairs of the municipality, which has tried to limit the development of the activity. However, this is not enough to disturb Chouaib Benbakir, who is not on his first case.
The Boulogne restaurant is the brand's second in Hauts-de-Seine, but the twentieth in France, calculates the one which has made an incursion into Belgium and which intends to further spread its wings in France and in Europe.
