Once again, the elected officials of Saint-Saëns discussed, during the last municipal council, a recurring problem in the town: the pigeons.
Beyond their number, they are the damage they cause which is problematic : dirty and slippery sidewalks, unusable terraces, damaged monuments and homes.
A cost of €30,000
However, a solution seemed to have been found. In fact, a feed trough, serving corn kernels, coated with an antiparasitic agent having a contraceptive effect, was to be installed in the town.
“But given the number of pigeons, we would need two feeders », says Karine Hunkeler.
The budget multiplied by two would therefore reach the 30 000 € and would require a review by committee for validation.
In the meantime, drawing inspiration from residents' initiatives, the mayor is proposing alternative solutions : “Perhaps we could rent a basket so that local residents can install anti-bird spikes, purchased at their own expense? »
