Au Museum of Romanity, let yourself be carried away all summer long! From the shores of Troy to the archaeological garden, from the frescoes of Dominik Barbier to the melodies of Mina Ghobrial, from the emotions of toddlers to those of adults… A program takes up its summer quarters and accompanies you to the rhythm of the summer season .

Until January 5, 2025, Achilles, legendary hero of Greek mythology who became famous for his bravery and valour during the Trojan War, is the protagonist of this fascinating major exhibition! Through the representations (mosaics, vases, sarcophagi, etc.), follow the journey of this hero through the significant episodes of his life, from his birth to the ramparts of Troy, through his flight to the island of Skyros, and finally his death caused by an arrow shot in the heel.

Since Achilles’ fate is closely linked to the Trojan War, the exhibition also revisits the origins of this mythical conflict. This epic, told at length by Homer in The Iliad, is to be (re)discovered through a selection of 100 exceptional works and a unique monumental digital fresco!

“Achilles and the Trojan War” (long version), in the presence of Dominik Barbier, video artist and director, will be broadcast on Thursdays July 25 and August 8 at 6 p.m. Indeed, the video artist Dominik Barbier created for the Musée de la Romanité, a large-scale video work retracing the myth of Achilles and the Trojan War. A selection of sequences has been integrated into the exhibition “Achilles and the Trojan War”.

The museum is offering a screening, in an auditorium, of the long version of this video production followed by an exchange with the artist on his creative process and his production choices.

Beyond the traditional guided tours, the public will be able to try “In vino veritas” on Wednesdays July 17, 24 and 31 and August 7 and 14 at 5 p.m. What are the origins of wine, an ancient beverage so popular today? How was it drunk? What are the rites linked to its consumption? A visit to discover the story of Bacchus and the ancient secrets of wine, followed by a tasting of Roman wines made using recipes from experimental archaeology.

Greco-Roman mythology, which is full of stories where the deities give birth to the plant kingdom and musical instruments, finds here an obvious poetic extension. The beauty of this moment outside of time will awaken all your senses!

Other activities are reserved for young audiences, so go for it!
