A fire broke out Friday afternoon in a building on Chemin Principal in the Saint-Gérard-des-Laurentides sector of Shawinigan.

According to the City of Shawinigan, a residential garage, which is detached from the house, was engulfed in flames. No one was injured.

Due to this fire, approximately 2,000 Hydro-Québec customers were affected by a power outage lasting nearly an hour.

At 2 p.m., Hydro-Québec confirmed that a team was on its way to the site to reduce the number of customers affected by this outage. About thirty minutes later, two customers were still without power.
