The Canadian delegation will be divided with five women and five men in artistic gymnastics and one competitor in the trampoline.

All of them obtained their ticket based on the results recorded during the National Championships held in Gatineau at the beginning of the month.

Canada confirmed its place in Paris for the women’s competitions by finishing on the third step of the podium at the World Championships in 2022.

The team’s figurehead is Ellie Black. The 28-year-old Nova Scotian is considered a role model for thousands of young gymnasts across the country. In Paris, she will be in her fourth Olympics, a record for a gymnast from here.

I am excited to be returning to the Olympics. I feel both pride and gratitude, because none of this would be possible without the support of an incredible team.

Laval resident Félix Dolci will act as the spearhead of the men’s team, which is participating in the Olympic Games for the first time since Beijing in 2008. He will be supported by his Quebec teammates René Cournoyer, the only one with Olympic experience (Tokyo 2020), and his fellow citizen William Émard.

Canada confirmed its place in Paris by finishing 4th at the 2023 world championships.

Being part of this team is the opportunity of a lifetime. For my second Games, I find myself part of the best team ever assembled in Canada. We have the potential to make history. No matter the result, I know I will have fun with my teammates and that Paris will stay in my memory forever.

The trio, along with British Columbian Zachary Clay, were already part of the team that qualified the country in Belgium. Ottawa’s Samuel Zakutney will complete the Canadian roster.

Finally, in trampoline, Stéphanie Méthot, from Varennes, will want to follow in the footsteps of Rosie MacLennan, gold medalist in London and Rio.

Reigning Canadian champion, Méthot, 25, has a bronze medal at the World Championships in 2017 to her credit.

The individual and team artistic gymnastics events will take place from July 27 to August 5 at the Bercy Arena. The trampoline competition will take place at the same location on August 2.
