In this interaction between research and creation, it is not a question of explaining the works, but of making the experience of theater more vivid. By bringing together the public, researchers and artists, around knowledge and artistic representations, these days pursue one of the ambitions of the Avignon Festival. Multiple points of view are confronted and sharpened.

Better understand the world

The discussions are organized into four thematic sessions.

1. “The recomposed past”

The first exchange will explore history, anthropology and philosophy enlighten us on the mechanisms of segregation, the social and political dimensions that founded slavery, the conditions for the recognition of civil rights, access to reparation and justice. Work in the field of genetic anthropology shows that the human species shares the same genetic heritage regardless of its geographical origin.

2. “Waiting for justice”

3. “Take body”

A privileged time for exchange between researchers, artists, representatives of performing arts professionals and the Festival public, the Research and Creation Meetings aim to bring the thinking behind the works into resonance with the most recent research work. Two days during which scientists and artists from the Festival share their knowledge and experiences, compare their points of view and exchange with the public. International and interdisciplinary meetings, mixing different scientific disciplines and the plurality of forms of live performance.

Cultural intelligence

The event is followed by the “Cultural Intelligence” Forum, Wednesday July 10, organized by the ANR with Thalie Santé and the ONDA (National Office for Artistic Diffusion). This 4e This edition will allow for shared reflection between cultural professionals, artists and scientists around cultural intelligences which contribute to human development and that of societies.

Three themes will be covered:

  • theatre as a shared experience;
  • the need for representations and stories;
  • govern and share culture.
