2024 Legislative Elections: Arcom formally notifies Europe 1 and Hanouna for lack of “moderation” and “honesty”

Little Cyril is needed at the Arcom office. Thursday June 27, the Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Public Communication announced that it would put Europe 1 on notice for lack of “measure” and “honesty” in the program “On marche sur la tête” hosted by Cyril Hanouna. The day after the European elections, King Bolloré’s favorite jester was catapulted to the head of a daily two-hour brown show on the navy blue station. The worst surge of Frontist bile was then to be feared, and was confirmed. So much so that on June 20, three days after the launch of the program, Arcom was obliged to remind the Breton billionaire’s radio station of its duties in terms of “pluralism”. A request that remained a dead letter.

An overrepresentation of the far right

In the kingdom of Cyril the Guignol, people like to throw into the lion’s den and roll in the mud the formidable hope generated by the union of the left-wing parties within the New Popular Front. It’s a question of who will make their little poisoned blunder on “the chaos desired by the New Popular Front” or even on the program of the alliance worthy of “Khmer Rouge”. Enough to make the public audiovisual policeman write, in his press release published yesterday: “It thus results from the listening reports that during the “On marche sur la tête” broadcasts from June 17 to 25, 2024, the electoral news of La France insoumise and the New Popular Front, a coalition of the main left-wing parties, was treated in a systematically critical and virulent manner, often in pejorative and outrageous terms.”

In addition, Arcom also highlights an over-representation of the far right among the guests. From June 17 to 26, 16 guests out of 29 “represented or supported parties belonging to the extreme right bloc”. These highlighted elements illustrate “a lack of moderation and honesty in the comments on electoral news”.

It’s a safe bet that this decision will not change anything in the editorial choices of the C8 guru. The man who sniffed at dogs’ anuses is used to punishments and fines. At least 45 warnings, formal notices and fines have been issued against the Bolloré group’s channels since 2012, including eight in 2024. Hanouna’s shows concern 23 of the 33 sanctions taken against C8 by Arcom. The excesses of the host, these columnists and certain guests have thus cost the Canal + group the sum of 7.5 million euros at Canal +. Not enough to disgust Vincent Bolloré, for whom Hanouna is a strong ally in his ideological and reactionary war. Perhaps it would be time, in this period of negotiations around the public DTT channels, to kick the brown plague channels off the small screen?

Faced with the extreme right, don’t give up!

It is step by step, argument against argument that we must fight the extreme right. This is what we try to do every day in Humanity.

Faced with incessant attacks from racists and hate mongers: support us! Together, let’s bring another voice to this increasingly nauseating public debate.
I want to know more.
