OM is closer than ever to completing the transfer of Lilian Brassier. Nearly 10 days ago, an agreement was reached between the Marseille club and the Brest player for a future at the Orange Vélodrome and this Thursday, the Breton club was finally convinced by the Marseille club’s arguments to let go of its central defender. Fabrizio Romano, a reference in the transfer window, announced this Thursday that total agreement has been found in this matter. While Roberto De Zerbi, the future coach, arrived in Marseille on Wednesday, Lilian Brassier should become the first recruit of the summer transfer window, or even the second depending on the expected formalization of Ismaël Koné, the Canadian midfielder from Watford.
A loan with a compulsory purchase option
Brassier’s operation would revolve around a loan with compulsory purchase option of 11 million eurosaccording to information from Fabrizio Romano. Lilian Brassier, who has therefore reached an agreement with OM for several days, will sign a five-year contract, until June 2029, with the Marseille club. Our colleague specifies that the future-ex Brest player refused the approaches of “several clubs” in order to opt for the challenge of OM. It is therefore a safe bet that he will form a formidable central axis alongside Leonardo Balerdi, who could extend his contract for 2 additional years at Marseille, a club that Samuel Gigot and Jordan Veretout could leave in the summer transfer window.
From now on, OM should quickly formalize three expected arrivals. That of Roberto De Zerbi, his new trainer; that of Lilian Brassier, who will strengthen the central axis, and also that of Ismaël Koné in the midfield sector. Concerning the arrival rumors, the name of Mason Greenwood (Manchester United) was mentioned by our colleagues at The Athletic. The Marseille club would be well placed in this complicated case.
