the lawyer of the attacked Lyon supporters denounces “the incomplete treatment of this case by the prosecution”

Two young women were attacked at Groupama Stadium on May 25, during the broadcast of the Coupe de final between OL and PSG. This Wednesday, their lawyer denounces “incomplete prosecutions” and asks the prosecution to review its copy before the hearing on December 4.

The scene takes place on May 25. That evening, two young women were attacked at Groupama Stadium, where they watched the broadcast on a giant screen of the Coupe de France final between and PSG (1-2).

According to several testimonies, as well as a video relayed on social networks, they were molested during the celebrations of the Lyon goal by an individual present in the front row in the middle of the public. A cascade of reactions followed, notably from OL. In a press release, the club explains that it “strongly” condemns this violence and “provides all its support to the victims”, ensuring that it wants to support them “in their complaint by becoming a civil party alongside them”. “This unacceptable and shocking behavior has no place” at OL, it is specified.

Six months later, the victims' lawyer, Me Tammouz Al Douri, decided to speak on Wednesday to denounce “the incomplete treatment of this case by the Prosecutor's Office”. “On 05/25/2024, Anissa and Karima (pseudonyms of the victims, editor's note) suffered a violent racist and sexist attack during the broadcast of the OL- match in the fan zone of the Groupama Stadium. A video extract from OL in which we see the main author giving around ten elbows to my clients during the celebration of the OL goal had circulated on social networks”, he specifies in the preamble.

“In the first minutes of the video, before the celebration, we see the perpetrator making Nazi salutes, a gesture likely to characterize the offense of glorifying a crime against humanity. We also see one of his relatives gave the finger then pretended to nudge and tear off Karima's Islamic scarf, demonstrating the premeditated nature of the violence carried out during the celebration,” he explains.

A hearing scheduled for December 4

“After re-studying the file, the Prosecutor's Office finally chose to prosecute the main perpetrator but only for the attacks against Anissa (pseudonym of one of the victims, editor's note). As it stands, he will not have to account for the Nazi salutes, nor for the beatings given to Karima (pseudonym of the other victim, editor's note). Having not been placed under judicial supervision despite the request of the prosecution, he is free to go. go to the stadium while waiting for his hearing, his accomplice, for his part, is not even prosecuted,” laments Me Tammouz Al Douri.

And added in this press release: “I therefore asked the Prosecutor to broaden his prosecution against the author for the beatings against Karima and for the Nazi salutes; and against his accomplice for the actions which preceded the beatings In the absence of a modification of the proceedings, I will ask at the hearing which is to be held on December 4th the postponement of the case so that we can ourselves name the perpetrators of the acts. before the Court and that they answer for all of their actions.”
