A trivial traffic offense turned into a chase and a violent arrest on the night of November 14 to 15 in Nîmes. The events took place in the sensitive district of Pissevin.
Around midnight, a police crew attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic stop. The driver, a 41-year-old man, then fled, obviously not wanting to be checked. As reported by Actu.fr, the police quickly noticed that the fugitive was not in possession of a driving license.
But that's not all. Inside the vehicle, a box attracted the attention of law enforcement. Sensing the danger approaching, the individual then tried to flee on foot, not hesitating to violently attack the police in an attempt to escape. Two civil servants were slightly injured during this altercation and received respectively one day and two days of total incapacity for work.
A large quantity of narcotics seized
Finally subdued, the fugitive was placed in police custody. The police then carried out a more in-depth search of the vehicle and discovered in the suspect box more than a kilo of cannabis resin, already packaged for sale.
Presented in court this Monday, November 18 as part of an immediate appearance, the man will have to answer for his actions. He is notably being prosecuted for driving without a license, refusal to comply, intentional violence against a person holding public authority and drug trafficking.
